We are thrilled to announce that Jack's Western & Outdoor is now proudly selling HYER boots, a name known for its rich legacy of cowboy footwear in America.
This partnership brings together two family-run businesses deeply rooted in tradition and craftmanship.
Here at Jack's, we just celebrated our 50th anniversary, and we are dedicated to offering the best products, and what better addition than the iconic HYER boots?
HYER boots has an incredible history that dates back to 1875, when it crafted its very first cowboy boot.
THE LEGACY OF THE HYER COWBOY BOOT

The journey began when a cowboy entered C.H. Hyer's cobbler shop in Olathe, Kansas, requesting custom boots for cattle driving.
This marked the birth of the first 'cowboy boot,' setting in motion a tradition that would resonate through generations.
By the early 1900s, Hyer had transformed into America's largest handmade boot manufacturer. Pioneering mail-order sales, he introduced innovative design elements such as the toe bug and fork construction for pull tabs, further enhancing the boot's functionality.
As word spread about Hyer's groundbreaking design, orders began pouring in from cattlemen, rodeo performers, and even iconic figures like Buffalo Bill Cody and Marilyn Monroe.

FROM COWBOYS TO SOLIDERS
During the tumultuous times of WWI and WWII, Hyer shifted his focus from cowboy boots to crafting military footwear. The quality of HYER boots caught the attention of military leaders, including Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower, solidifying its reputation as a brand synonymous with durability and craftmanship.

CHALLENGES AND REVIVAL
However, the thriving legacy faced challenges in the 1970s, as financial hardships led to the family relinquishing control of the business. The once-celebrated Hyer brand eventually shut down, leaving a significant void in the cowboy boot industry.

The 1990s brought a pivotal moment when Zach Lawless, the great-great-grandson of C.H. Hyer, stumbled upon family memorabilia that reignited his passion for the brand.
In 1992, he embarked on a journey to revive HYER boots, aiming to restore its storied legacy. By 2010, Zach and his fiancée Alicia had successfully reclaimed the trademark for "Creator of the First Cowboy Boot" and relaunched the company, starting with the beloved Horseman & Ranch boot.
