Rios of Mercedes Now At Jack's Western Wear
"You get out what you put in." - Trainor Evans
Well, partner, let me tell ya about a little gem down in Texas, right near the southern border, where boots aren’t just footwear, they’re a piece of history.
Nestled in the charming town of Mercedes, you’ll find the Rios of Mercedes Boot Company—a true testament to Texan craftsmanship.
The story of Rios of Mercedes goes way back to 1853 when the Rios family started out making cavalry boots for the Mexican military. Talk about a rich heritage!
In 1908, they made the smart move to the Valley, opening a boot shop in 1928.
Then, in 1975, the business got a new spark when Joe and Trainor Evans—took the reins and revved things up.
If you’re lookin’ for boots that have a story as deep as Texas itself, Rios of Mercedes is the place to saddle up. These boots aren’t just made; they’re crafted with love, history, and a whole lot of Texan pride.
After 160 years Rios of Mercedes craftsmen still handmake every pair with artist-like devotion, ensuring that no boot leaves the workshop unless it’s worthy. This dedication to quality and durability built its legendary base of devoted customers and drove sales at nearly 500 retailers. Rios of Mercedes is blessed to be endorsed by performance-horse greats, famous musicians and everyday cattleman alike.
Rios of Mercedes lives by a simple maxim about boot making put forth by co-owner Trainor Evans, “You get out what you put in.” Simply stated. Profoundly true. Easy to live by.
Rios of Mercedes boots are made with all-leather construction, which makes them naturally more durable, look better and stand up to your demands.
Before cutting, the hides are positioned so that each cut is made across the width of the hide instead of the length. This allows the natural fibers of the hide to move as the Good Lord intended.
Once the hides are cut to their specific instructions, the life of the boot has begun.
Each pair of Rios of Mercedes boots is hand-lasted, hand-stitched, hand-pegged and hand-finished.
